Leadership that changes the world (1/18/25)

2025 politics and leadership

In talking one on one to elite business leaders and real estate partners across the US, there is a overwhelming consensus.

2025 is going to be a wild ride.

The political seas are changing, and, combined with the horrific tragedies in Southern California, North Carolina, and even Florida, true leadership will be necessary.

And yet, there are two aspects of leadership that may be missed by majority of people over the next 18-24 months.

These two lynchpins will dictate your personal and professional success.

1. There will be massive opportunities for the businesses and individuals who are emotionally, mentally, and financially prepared.

2. The person who moves with urgency will see great success in service to others.

Here are three ways you can level up your leadership and rise to the occasion.

First - realize that true leadership begins with you.

This requires that each of us evaluate our attitude, actions and associations, and who we are when the world is not watching.

For example:

Are you making daily commitments each day to intentionally focus on the projects that will move the needle forward?

Are you evaluating vices such as alcohol, recreational drugs, gambling, and doom scrolling to begin to replace these vices with things that will create a life of better health and wellbeing?

Are you choosing to walk away from negativity in your life, whether that be people that constantly pull you down or choosing to reframe your own negativity?

Are you choosing to align with the right business partners and colleagues who challenge you to raise your standards and demonstrate their high standards in all areas of your life.

You may be saying, this sounds a little harsh Hanna.

You are correct.

Boldness is required to speak the truth.

For the skeptic, there is good news.

As Joshua Fields Milburn, known for his work creating The Minimalists says, "this is not a prescription, it is simply a recipe."

You have an opportunity today to make small changes in your life that fit the outlook and life you are seeking to create.

Second - recognize that time is fleeting.

You have an immense opportunity to create urgency in your life to push through, even when it feels uncomfortable.

This starts by controlling your schedule with a systematic approach to mastering the day.

Work for one hour on one project, day in and day out. This is how you use small changes to make a big impact.

Here is an example from my own life.

It was nearly a year ago that my conversation opened with a company that has created a solution to modern day construction challenges.

He and his team have systematically created a process to build homes cheaper, faster, and better, homes that can withstand hurricane force winds and firestorms such as the ones that are still raging in Southern California.

Just this week, we were able to make significant progress on the necessary investments to push the next phase of initiatives forward, with billions of dollars of projects that will be constructed over the next decade.

This connection took a year from start to finish, and it started with a simple handshake, a connection, followed by a phone call.

Challenge yourself to ask this question, how can I open just one door today?

One door for good.

One door for business.

One door for many opportunities.

It starts with just one step forward today.

Last - always come from a place of service.

The money will follow.

So many times people are motivated solely by money. I would offer that as you place yourself in a position of service, as you begin to increase the amount of value you bring to this world, as you move with integrity, you not only find a better sense of peace, joy and fulfillment, but new opportunities come your way in the most surprising ways.

Recently a real estate professional said to me, "Hanna, I don't even feel like working in my business right now. I am so worried about the people in Los Angeles."

This person felt stuck.

My advice was simple.

Pick up the phone and check on your real estate colleagues in Los Angeles. Call your private clients. Check to see what they may need. Create an environment in which you can demonstrate leadership and integrity, and the business will come.

In a world where people are hurting, feeling exhausted, or barely surviving, your true leadership is what can change the world.
